Bed bugs have a reputation for being hard to get rid of, requiring the use of toxic chemicals that must be applied by professionals and which can make your home temporarily uninhabitable for people and pets. The widespread uses of such chemical insecticides have caused bed bugs to become resistant to their effects. Even if the adult bed bugs are killed, the eggs they leave behind can later hatch and continue the infestation. You can take steps to eliminate bed bugs effectively and safely, without hiring a pest control company, by using BEST YET—an all-natural, organic insecticide. Below are instructions for how to best get rid of bed bugs using BEST YET Organic Bug Spray and Pest Control.
Step 1: Laundry Treatment
First, take all bedding (as well as any laundry or other cloth items laying on the bed or floor) and wash them in hot water. For added protection, you can use two ounces of PCO Choice in the washer with each load of laundry. After washing, dry the laundry using your dryer’s highest heat setting. Do not bring the laundry back into the bedroom until after you complete steps 2 and 3.
Step 2: Spray Treatment
The key to killing bed bugs with any spray-on pesticide is to find all of their hiding places. Bed bugs will typically not travel more than a few feet from where they feed—which is wherever their human hosts sleep—but they prefer to spend their days in dark, well-concealed cracks or crevasses. To find and treat their hiding places with BEST YET spray, you should: • Remove and treat the mattress and box springs. • Inspect and treat the bed frame and any other bedroom furniture. You will almost certainly need to move furniture away from the wall, and turn each piece onto its side (or upside down) to get full coverage. Pay special attention to joints, drawers, the underside or wall-facing side, or any other hidden space that a tiny, flat insect could hide in. • Remove any wall hangings from the wall, and spray the frames or matting with BEST YET. • Spray any cracks or seams in the wall or flooring, as well as any areas with paint or wallpaper that is cracked or peeling. • Spray all curtains and blinds. • Remove any items from the floor or closet that might provide cover for bed bugs, and spray such areas thoroughly. • Remove electrical outlet or switch covers, and spray into these wall voids. Though you need to use caution around electrical sources, BEST YET itself is safe to use on outlets or wiring. Remember that BEST YET is organic and completely non-toxic to people and pets, so you cannot apply too much spray. The important thing is that you do not use too little, and allow some bed bugs or eggs to survive.
Step 3: Fogging Treatment
To make certain no bed bugs are missed, you should then use a BEST YET Fogger Kit to reach every potential hiding spot, no matter how small or well-concealed. • First, disable your smoke alarms, and cover your nose and mouth with a disposable air filter mask. • With the fogger on its “medium” setting, thoroughly fog the entire house, paying special attention to the cracks or crevasses where bed bugs like to hide. • After fogging, exit the house and leave it sealed for at least two hours. • After two hours, open the doors and windows to air out the house.
For best results, you will want to finish all three steps in one day. If you must take the extra step, you can also treat again in 13-14 days to ensure extra dead bedbugs.
If bed bugs return, you can repeat the steps as needed, though generally two treatments will get the majority of jobs done.
